Deluxe Customs is proud to present this wonderful, PCA Zone 8 Gmund Gold winning, 1959 Convertible D for sale! With just 481 miles driven since its full turn-key restoration in 2018, this is a great opportunity for someone looking to get in and go in a perfect Concours winning 356!
This is a full numbers matching car finished in its original color, Meissen Blue, with correct Drauz chassis number stamps in all but 3 locations!! This is an early Convertible D with the different door tops and is only 1 of 1,331 Convertible D’s ever built.
As with all our turn-key restorations, this Convertible D was stripped down and taken to bare metal. No stone was left unturned! During the restoration process we ensure that every nut and bolt is the correct piece of hardware.
A Celette bench & fixtures are used to guarantee the body is as straight and perfect as the day it left the Porsche factory.
After all the metal work is finished, the car is re-blasted and we begin the bodywork & paint process!
After the paint is sand & buffed to a mirror finish, its time for assembly. The engine was rebuilt by Dan Lawson at Competition Engineering and re-finished in house. The transaxle was rebuilt by Bill Capatch at Arizona Transaxle Exchange. Interior was handled by Scott Johnson of Stuttgart Upholstery in Phoenix, Arizona.
This car was entered in the 2019 Phoenix Flight 42 and was awarded 1st in Full Concours with a score of 324.1 out of 325 points possible, .9 points were deducted for dust on wheels and undercarriage. Furthermore, this Convertible D received Judges Choice Award and Board of Directors Choice Award!!!
After attending the 67th PCA Porsche Parade, which was also the 75th anniversary of Porsche, this Convertible D received the Gmund Gold! Meaning that it received 298 points or higher out of 300! In 2024, at the PCA Zone 8 Concours, it won 1st in Class, 1st in Full Concours, and Best in Show!!!
