FOR SALE: 1957 Speedster

Deluxe Customs is proud to present this perfectly restored 1957 Speedster (Chassis 83324), that we refer to as a Concours-Outlaw, for sale! We completed a full turn-key, bare metal restoration of this Speedster in 2021 and it has only driven 301 miles since. This Speedster is beautifully finished in it’s original color, Stone Gray, it is 1 of only 6 to originally come in this color! It is sitting on a set of real Rudge wheels, powered by a fuel-injected 1883cc Porsche engine!! With no irreversible mods, this car is perfect for someone looking for an outlaw or a Concours level car that can easily be returned to stock.

The Reutter company completed chassis no. 83324 in late April to early May 1957. Interesting to note is earlier Speedster chassis no. 83201 was the very first T2 chassis with "teardrop" brake lights and "shine-up" rear license light - completed in late March 1957. This chassis no. 83324 is 123 numbers later, making it a very early version T2 Speedster. This Speedster came from the factory with single rear over rider, another hint at it being a very early T2.

The Kardex warranty card notes the Speedster left Porsche on May 7, 1957. This Speedster was delivered through USA Distributor & Porsche Dealer-Importer Max Hoffman. Based on service completed at 390km on July 13, 1957, it was most likely sold through John von Neumann's VW-Porsche owned Dealership, Competition Motors in North Hollywood, California.

It is one of only 6 Speedsters to originally come in Stone Gray!

Originally delivered Stone Gray over black vinyl interior, our customer decided to go with Ox Blood leather interior with grey square weave carpet. Interior work was completed by Scott Johnson of Stuttgart Upholstery in Phoenix, Arizona. In the interior you will find a Nardi steering wheel and a Wevo shifter atop a custom shifter housing made in-house at Deluxe.

Along with the black canvas top and Stone Gray paint, the exterior features GT bumper trim frenched into the bumper guards, custom GT-style trim for the rockers, and period correct Marchal driving lights. The custom exhaust is routed to a hand-made nascar style 4 gate tip. The original Rudge wheels were restored by Victor Miles and are mounted to newly restored Martin Willis drums and shoes.

The Wevo shifter is attached to a 741 transmission with a 644 nose cone that was rebuilt at Arizona Transaxle Exchange by Bill Capatch. The Wevo shifter is an above tunnel shifter that eliminates the original monkey motion and is a direct shift to the transmission. The original date-coded 644 transmission, aslo rebuilt by Arizona Transaxle, will come with the car.

The 1883cc Porsche engine is fueled by Red Line fuel injection and was rebuilt, balanced, and blueprinted by Dan Lawson at Competition Engineering. The computer control are hidden in the engine compartment and give the ability for multiple tunes based on fuel and map. Feeding the engine is a custom “fuel cell” with internal pump and return lines.

The car will include the original jack, fully restored, and a complete, correct, tool kit from Victor Miles.

The sale will include the Kardex, Porsche CoA, and the numbers matching 644 transmission with original shifter & monkey motion. The factory bumper & body trim and date stamped steelies are available and can be added at an additional cost.
